Social Media Manager
MacRumors.com, one of the most popular Apple news and rumor websites, is looking for a Social Media Specialist who will manage and publish content to our Social Media accounts.Critical Requirements
• While this is a fully remote position, the applicant must be available to operate on a full-time schedule in a US time zone, Monday through Friday, in order to collaborate with key stakeholders. Occasional off-hours availability may be needed to supplement breaking news coverage. Occasional trips (1x per year) may be required.• Solid knowledge of and experience with posting to TikTok, X, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Snapchat, Mastodon, and Bluesky.
Job Duties and Expectations
• Create social posts that leverage existing editorial and video content created by other team members, adding additional design elements (graphics, voice-overs, text) as needed.• Actively engage with our social media audience to increase MacRumors.com readership, forum membership, and subscribers to our podcast, weekly e-mail newsletter, and YouTube channel.
• Active engagement can include comments/conversations, polls, giveaways, and contests using products provided by partnering companies or a budget approved by our Editor in Chief.
• Provide monthly reporting to the editorial team to summarize reach and engagement, and identify top-performing posts to create a blueprint for future posts.
Key Skills and Abilities
• The ability to be productive in a virtual work environment with colleagues across multiple time zones.• Enthusiasm for and a strong working knowledge of Apple products.
Bonus Skills
• Solid creative talent and the ability to expertly use digital creation tools like Illustrator and Photoshop to quickly create graphics to support editorial and video content and make engaging social media posts.• Basic video editing abilities to take existing video content and enhance it with imagery and text for social media posts.
• Comfortable with getting in front of the camera occasionally to augment a post on short notice.
MacRumors.com is run by a small, dedicated team of people primarily based in the U.S. We're looking for a creative person who loves Apple products and can quickly generate simple yet eye-catching graphics. Salary range from $45k–$65k+ depending on experience.
