What Is "KNOx"?
KNOX provides a "private space" on a KNOX equipped mobile device where the
customer can store pictures, applications etc.
It will allow only the authorized user (i.e. the customer) to access the KNOX area on
the device as a password is required to access the KNOX area on the device.
To protect the information held within the KNOX area, if the device is rooted, the
device will set its KNOX status, called "KNOX WARRANTY VOID", to 0x1 and disable
KNOX permanently so that nobody can access to the space anymore.
It is not possible to "reset" or "reactivate" KNOX when the "KNOX WARRANTY VOID"
bit is set to 0x1. When the device has been rooted, only by replacing the PBA (as an
Out-Of-Warranty repair action) can the customer be able to use KNOX feature..
how to check KNOX WARRANTY VOID status
1) Enter Download Mode on the device.
- Press Volume down key + Home key + Power key to enter Download Mode.
- Press Volume up key to enter Odin mode.
2) Check KNOX WARRANTY VOID.
- If KNOX WARRANTY VOID is 0x1, It means the phone has been rooted and
KNOX has been "disabled".
Once it is set, it is not possible to rest the status to 0x0 and if the device were to be
returned to the customer with the "original" rooted board then the customer would not
be able to use KNOX.
If the device KNOX WARRANTY VOID status is set to 0x1, then the PBA
replacement of the device is an OUT OF WARRANTY repair.
