Currently yung line-up nila isang yung processor w/c is yung FX line at yung APU line.
Sa FX malalaman mo if first gen FX or 2nd gen FX sa 2nd number for each model.
Ex.
FX-8150 is first gen so "1" yung indication. FX-8350 is 2nd gen so "3"
In terms of core count. Tatlo yung major category nila.
FX-4300 is their quad core line-up
FX-6300 is their six core line-up
FX-8300 is their eight core line-up.
Sa loob ng isang segment, malalaman mo alin mas mabilis based sa third number for each model.
Example:
FX-6300 mas mahina vs the FX-6350.
FX-8320 mas mahina vs the FX-8350.
FX-4300 mas mahina vs the FX-4350.
Yung FX-9590 ang flagship nila while yung FX-9370 and pinakamahina. Yung number rule para malaman alin mabilis will still apply. So "5" sa FX-9590 and "3" sa FX-9370.
So in summary,
FX - series
8 - core count (except sa FX-9xxx series )
3 - kung ano yung generation ( again except sa FX-9xxx )
5 - performance indication (higher the better)
0
To add,
Yan yung mga energy efficient version so mas maliit yung TDP rating at power consumption.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sa APU naman, currently apat main category nila for desktops:
1. A-series ( APU )
2. Athlon series ( CPU only, locked GPU )
3. Low power Athlon series ( APU )
4. Low power Sempron series ( APU )
Yung A-series divided into performance segments ( except sa first gen APU )
A4 - dual core, pinakamahina na CPU+GPU
A6 - dual core, faster CPU+GPU
A8- quad core, average CPU+GPU
A10- quad core, faster CPU+GPU
Yung Athlon series naman dalawang segments, as for core count, currently quad core pa lang meron.
Ex. Athlon X4-760k
pag may "K" meaning unlocked yun so pwede ka magoverclock gamit multiplier
pag walang "K" meaning locked yung multiplier
Sa low power Athlon series, dalawa din segments as of now.
Athlon 5xxx is yung normal APU
Athlon X2 4xx - dual core APU pero locked yung gpu.
Sa low power sempron series, currently isa lang yung segment, wala pa silang segment with locked GPUs.

Now pano malalaman aling generation ang APU mo?
1.) First gen "Llano"
Ex.
A8 - series
3 - indicates generation
8 - indicates performance (higher the better)
7 - higher clock speed
0
k - unlocked/overclockable via multiplier
2.) 2nd gen "Trinity"
Ex.
A10 - indicates series
5 - indicates generation
6 - indicates performance (higher the better)
0
0
k - unlocked/overclockable via multiplier
3.) 3rd gen "Richland"
Ex.
A10 - indicates series
6 - indicates generation
8 - indicates performance (higher the better)
0
0
k - unlocked/overclockable via multiplier
4.) 4th gen "Kaveri"
Ex.
A10 - indicates series
7 - indicates generation
8 - indicates performance (higher the better)
5 - tdp rating
0
k - unlocked/overclockable via multiplier

For the low power Athlon and Semprons they are still both first gen so no need the dig in futher but this is how the naming scheme goes.
Athlon - series
5 - generation
3 - performance ( higher is better )
5 - probably tdp rating

credits goes to the original researcher of this scheme...
