Update ASUS Zenfone using SDcard?

Copy ASUS Zenfone firmware to SD-Card and rename with update.zip
Boot phone into recovery mode by pressing and hold power button and volume up or down
In recovery menu select update
Choose the update.zip and wait till update asus finish

How to Update ASUS Zenfone with Sideload?

Turn off ASUS Zenfone
Access recovery menu by pressing and hold power button and volume up or down
In recovery menu select update using sideload
Attach Asus Zenfone to PC and install driver
Open ADB command prompt and type

adb sideload xxx.zip

Wait until update finish
How to Update ASUS Zenfone from Fastboot Mode?

Download ASUS driver and ADB tools
Turn off your ASUS Zenfone
Press and hold power on button and volume up or volume down
After you see fastboot notification on screen, attach ASUS Zenfone to PC and install ASUS Zenfone driver
Copy ADB tools to the same directory with your ASUS Zenfone firmware
Press and hold SHiFT keyboard on PC and do right-click mouse, you will see "Open command window here" menu (it will open adb tool with command prompt). You can see here what command for fastboot mode.

fastboot flash xxx.zip, or
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img (to flash specific region)
fastboot flash (region) (must the same file name as region with extension

Check software version of your device**
Download device software and Update SOP (From “Manualâ€￾ Item)
Only apply to same SKU update, Example: WW->WW, CN->CN, TW->TW.
Software update cannot transfer the software SKU.
Wrong SKU may cause update failure, please update the same SKU version only.

Example: ASUS_T00I
**How to know the device software version?
Path: Settings->About-> software information->Build number
