For USB Capture Devices and Webcams:
===
If you have a USB cable that is too long then you should use hubs to boost the line power.
ALSO: A lot of freeze issues where the camera stops working
seem to be due to windows putting the usb ports in a power
saving state.
Before using Cam Wizard please disable power management on your usb ports.
To do so follow these steps for all of your PCs USB Root Hub's:
Windows 7 :
1. In Windows, click on Start > Control Panel (or Start > Settings > Control Panel).
2. Click on System and Security, under System section, click Device Manager.
3. Click the > at Universal Serial Bus Controllers.
4. Right-click USB Root Hub and select Properties.
5. Open the Power Management tab.
6. Clear the checkmark from Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
7. Click OK.
8. Repeat steps 4 to 7, for the USB 2.0 Hub and each additional USB Root Hub and USB 2.0.
Other versions of Windows :
1. In Windows, click on Start > Control Panel (or Start > Settings > Control Panel).
2. Double-click on System, then open the Hardware tab.
3. Click Device Manager.
4. Click the + at Universal Serial Bus Controllers.
5. Right-click USB Root Hub and select Properties.
6. Open the Power Management tab.
7. Clear the checkmark from Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
8. Click OK.
9. Repeat steps 5 to 8, for the USB 2.0 Hub and each additional USB Root Hub and USB 2.0.
