How to Update
1. Requirements
  1. Verify your phone’s variant before downloading the appropriate firmware files
  2. Your phone needs to be running C185 branded Marshmallow or Nougat based firmware onboard
  3. You’ll need a Windows PC with ADB/Fastboot drivers installed
  4. Take a full backup of existing data and apps before proceeding
  5. [Important] The bootloader needs to be unlocked
2. Procedure
Step 1.
Plug your phone into your computer and create a new folder named HWOTA in its external microSD card.
Step 2. Download the firmware files (update.zip, cust file and public data package) for your variant, rename them as mentioned above and then copy them to the new HWOTA folder in the SD card.
Step 3. Disconnect the USB cable and turn off your phone. Reboot into fastboot/bootloader mode by pressing & holding holding the Volume down key while re-inserting the USB cable at the same time.

Step 4. On your PC, download the Huawei Mate 9 updater tool (MHA-HWOTA.zip) and extract the HWOTA folder from the zip file to your desktop.
Step 5. Open the extracted HWOTA folder on your desktop and execute the update.batscript as administrator.
Step 6. A command window will pop up asking you to reboot your phone into fastboot mode – you already did that back in step 3 so simply press Enter to proceed.
Step 7. The tool will automatically replace your phone’s recovery with TWRP and then ask you to boot into recovery mode.

To do that, disconnect the USB cable and hold the Power key to turn off your phone. Then reboot into TWRP mode by holding Volume up + Power simultaneously for a couple of seconds.
Once you’ve entered TWRP mode, reconnect the USB cable, wait for a few seconds and then press the Enter key in the command window on your computer twice.
Step 9. After that, you’ll be asked to select the update source, type 1 and hit Enter. Next, for update type selection, again type 1 and press the Enter key twice.
Step 10. In a few seconds, your device will automatically restart and begin the update installation.
